Root 70 is a classic jazz quartet – but without a harmony instrument.

Nils and Bojan first met at the French-German festival Jazz d’Or in 2012.
What began as a one-off collaboration soon evolved into a long-term musical partnership.

Both artists contribute original compositions to the duo, blending their jazz roots with influences from the Balkans, elements of rock and pop, and touches of contemporary classical music.
The result is music that is rhythmically vibrant and rich in atmosphere.

Singer Saadet Türköz draws on traditional songs from Turkestan as the foundation for her improvisations.
I accompany her with bass lines, sounds, grooves, and chordal textures on the trombone – occasionally also using melodica or overtone singing. The music is mostly freely improvised, interwoven with elements of traditional songs.
It’s often calm, meditative, and deeply contemplative.

Two albums have been released: Portrait of a Band (2005) and Work Smoothly (2018).
The NDR Bigband is a legendary radio jazz orchestra based in Hamburg, known for its outstanding ensemble sound and exceptional soloists.
These programs have also been performed by other big bands in the past.

Den vielfach ausgezeichneten Jazz-Posaunisten Nils Wogram und den renommierten Autor Tobias Premper verbindet eine besondere Freundschaft – getragen von der gemeinsamen Liebe zur Musik und Literatur, aber auch von den stillen Momenten des Lebens wie dem gemeinsamen Pilzesammeln oder Schwimmen. Aus dieser Verbindung ist das Projekt „Knotenaufmachgeduld“ entstanden, das Musik und Sprache in einen eindringlichen Dialog bringt. In vier Teilen und mit einer Gesamtdauer von rund 70 Minuten entfaltet sich dabei eine Atmosphäre der Entschleunigung und Tiefe. Wogram spielt Solo – auf der Posaune, dem Klavier und der Melodica – mal minimalistisch, mal lyrisch und stets feinfühlig. Dazu liest Tobias Premper eigene lakonische, notizenhafte Erinnerungstexte, die oft nur aus wenigen Zeilen bestehen und voller Zwischenräume sind. „Knotenaufmachgeduld“ ist kein Musikalbum, kein Hörbuch – es ist eine intensive Performance, bei der sich Musik und Sprache miteinander verweben und eine außergewöhnliche Atmosphäre erzeugen.
